Waste Train

Providing Vocational Education and Training for Decision Makers and Officials Working in the Field of Waste Management with Updated Information on Waste Management Practices

Project No: TR/06/B/F/PP/178066

The WASTE TRAIN project aims to develop specialized training tools and their applicability in the field of Modern Solid Waste Management, based on the fundamental principles of European Environmental and Waste Management Policies. Solid waste management is becoming increasingly important in every society due to numerous factors, including the annual increase in the amount of waste generated by household, industrial, commercial, agricultural, energy, and other activities in Europe, the inadequacy of funds to manage waste effectively, the limited availability of natural habitats and energy resources, and the widespread use of environmentally friendly materials in manufactured products.

Therefore, the implementation of up-to-date and modern training programs at the national, regional, and local levels has become essential for determining modern, applicable, and sustainable waste management strategies. As part of this project, decision-making officials in municipalities and public/government institutions, as well as administrators and technical personnel responsible for managing waste, will benefit from a training program. Legislation and practices in our country and the European Union, covering the components of waste management—such as the generation, accumulation, collection, transportation, processing, storage, and disposal of waste, taking into account environmental impacts—will be meticulously evaluated by national and international academics and experts from various disciplines.

This innovative approach will be implemented as standard practice in all European countries, including Türkiye.

COMBAT

Competitive Training for Vocational Education Professionals for a Clean Environment

The fundamental challenge underlying this project is the need to strengthen the quality of professional training for VET educators. The project’s primary objective is to enhance their competence and skills, establish connections between theory and practice, and implement a learning-centered approach.

The COMBAT project proposes a competence-based e-learning system. The specific objectives of the project are to transfer the e-learning program from the WASTE-TRAIN project, which addresses solid waste management, to develop a structured model based on EQF reference levels 5-6-7, to select specific learning method content, and to create a multilingual e-platform. COMBAT’s innovative training aims to achieve the following outcomes: The COMBAT project will develop a system for the structural definition of work-based competence, design a COMBAT competence portfolio, develop a multilingual web portal, introduce new educational support services, plan project testing, evaluation, and effective valorization.

The project’s impact is based on the development of flexible foundations for quality continuing education in terms of national VET criteria. Therefore, the COMBAT project will contribute to the partners’ development of national VET systems in line with EU standards.
